Hidden Gem near Wroclaw: Discover Marianne Palace
Indeed a pearl of Lower Silesian architecture, this Polish palace with notes of Moorish style is just an hour from Wrocław.
How to get to the Palace of Marianne Orange-Nassau
The best way to reach Marianne Palace is by car from Wrocław. Alternatively, take a train to Kamieniec Zabkowicki station, then walk 40 minutes to the palace.
Palace of Marianne of Orange-Nassau Architecture
The palace was built in the 19th century as a summer home for Dutch Princess Marianne. With its four towers, it appears more like a castle at first glance. After World War II, it was vandalized and looted by the Red Army, which took many furnishings and artworks. A year later, a fire left the palace in ruins. In 2012, it was returned to the municipality of Kamieniec Zabkowicki in terrible condition. Thanks to significant restoration efforts, you can now visit and admire this architectural gem.
Inside the Walls of Marianne Orange-Nassau Palace
The Marianne Palace consists of 102 rooms. You can view the room interiors, though not in great detail, as restoration is still ongoing. I was more impressed by wandering through the majestic halls, exploring the courtyards, admiring the palace’s architecture from the second floor and terrace, and getting a closer look at the towers. The Moorish windows, arches, and beautiful sunlight give the palace a fairytale-like charm.
The Stunning Terrace of Marianne Orange-Nassau Palace
One of the highlights of visiting the Marianne Palace is the stunning terrace on the second floor. It offers a spacious area with amazing views of the mountains and palace gardens. The terrace is truly the best way to end the excursion. I recommend timing your visit to catch the sunset.
